S&D’s Director of CSR & Sustainability Lectures at Northwestern University
CONCORD, N.C. – David Piza, director of corporate social responsibility and sustainability for S&D Coffee & Tea, presented on sustainability in the coffee industry at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management on August 19. His lecture was part of the LatinX Leaders Series, offered by ENLACE, Kellogg’s Hispanic Resource Group.
“At S&D, we are focused on building relationships to drive productivity, support economic growth and encourage sustainable practices,” said Piza. “I am grateful to have had the opportunity to share S&D’s work at origin and the impact it has had on sustainability with the Kellogg students, staff and faculty.”
As director of corporate social responsibility and sustainability, Piza oversees the implementation of S&D’s resource efficiency and sustainable sourcing strategies. He cultivates relationships with trading partners, coffee growers and S&D sourcing communities with the goal of generating farmer prosperity through practices that also lead to environmental stewardship and social development.
Piza holds a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial engineering from La Universidad de Los Andes, in Bogota, Colombia, and is an executive MBA candidate at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. He is a member of the Specialty Coffee Association of America Sustainability Council and Lectures Committee and the McDonald’s North America Supplier Advisory Council.
