PositiviTEA on National Hot Tea Day!

Today is National Hot Tea Day, and as we huddle against the January cold, it seems like a perfect time to warm body and soul with a cup of your favorite black, green or herbal tea.  According to legend, drinking hot tea dates back to 2737 B.C. in China when tea leaves accidentally blew into a pot of boiling water.  Since then, tea drinkers have relished the flavor, warmth and health benefits of that happy accident.

So what is it that draws us to this centuries-old beverage?  Technology, science and industry have changed, but the product itself — the leaves of the camellia sinensis plant — is the same now as it was then.  And perhaps that is exactly why.  In a recent survey of tea drinkers, consumers strongly rank tea as a beverage that is natural, unprocessed, healthy, and a good source of naturally occurring caffeine.  It’s amazing that a product so simple has so many naturally occurring positive benefits.

43% of consumers appreciate tea because it does something good for their body.  Those reported benefits include maintaining weight, calming/de-stressing, boosting the immune system, and giving us a little boost of energy when we are tired.  Tea may be the one and only beverage that, depending on our circumstance, can either calm or energize — or both.  With the ability to provide so much positiviTEA, maybe it’s no surprise this natural, unadulterated drink has proven it can stand the test of time.

So, tell us – what’s your #positiviTEA?
