S&D takes steps toward a cure with JDRF
Involvement in the community is just one way S&D hopes to make a difference. Through our annual employee-driven campaign, S&D raises money and awareness for juvenile diabetes by partnering with and supporting the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
Juvenile diabetes, also known as type-one diabetes (T1D), is a disorder of the body’s immune system. Those diagnosed require insulin to regulate their blood glucose levels. Through donations and research, JDRF works to remove the effects of T1D in people’s lives.
JDRF is the only global diabetes organization with access to scientific resources, regulatory influence and a strategic plan to end T1D. As JDRF takes a step forward toward researching and finding a cure for those affected, we are proud to stand with them.
As this cause hits close to home for many employees, S&D rallies together every year to raise money and participate in various fundraising activities. Through a collaborative effort, S&D employees raised more than $26,000. Money was collected from t-shirt sales, a BBQ lunch and pledges. And of course, who can forget those infamous paper sneakers that lined our offices and corridors?
On April 30th, 2016, S&D had 25 employees and additional family members attend the annual JDRF One Walk — the culmination of this year’s efforts.
A huge thank you goes out to our employees, their family members and all others involved in supporting JDRF this year!
