Case Study: Accentuating Classic Flavors for an Upscale Fine Dining Restaurant Chain

Beginning by partnering with  a nearby location and then expanding to nationwide service, S&D is the exclusive coffee supplier for a major American  fine dining restaurant chain. Using S&D’s “Dark Sky” blend, the chain provided customers with a gourmet coffee experience to match the menu and environment of the restaurant’s upscale interiors.

After sampling coffee from the famous Townsend Hotel in Detroit, the chain’s  VP of Operations asked S&D to match it and create a unique blend for all 55locations.

S&D not only set out to match the blend, but also enhance the  flavor — developing an entirely custom coffee selection for the chain. Later, after the chain’s executive chef requested Hawaiian Kona coffee for recipe development as a steak rub, S&D proposed a decaffeinated Kona blend that provided the perfect balance of robust  flavor without the effects of caffeine. The combination of prime dry-aged beef and the rich, earthy notes of the coffee proved to be the perfect match.

S&D’s ability to deliver customized blends — including one specifically developed for a culinary application — earned “Vendor of the Year” honors from the chain.
